Dev update #14
For this fourteenth edition, we present a series of new features and fixes on all platforms. Whether you're using Jami on computer or mobile, or collaborating in groups, these updates aim to bring Performance, Polish, and Powerful Features to make your experience smoother, faster, and more powerful.
🔧 CORE
Connectivity continues to be a top priority. We’ve implemented a proxy fix that significantly improves how devices connect to each other.
Also, the keyboard shortcuts window now supports dark mode, a small change for your eyes, a giant leap for aesthetics.
We've also resolved several crashes under the hood, contributing to a more stable and enjoyable Jami experience overall.
🖥️ DESKTOP
🏗️ A New Build System
Thanks to a series of commits, Jami Desktop is now easier to compile and distribute thanks to a brand new build system. This helps developers and contributors work faster and users get more frequent updates.
☑️ Spellcheck
We’ve revamped the spellchecker to work reliably across all platforms. It now supports both system dictionaries and downloaded ones, and fixes long-standing issues in the process.
⌨️ Keyboard Shortcuts & Call Handling
Shortcuts are back on track: the broken accessibility shortcuts are now fully functional again.
You can now also choose how incoming calls behave when you're already on a call. Auto-refuse or manage manually, the choice is yours.
📱 ANDROID
Our Android team continues to work hard squashing bugs. Among the highlights:
- Fixed an issue with file downloads by handling file details asynchronously.
- A series of small but meaningful fixes to improve overall performance and reliability.
🍏 iOS
With group call support now implemented, Apple users can enjoy dynamic and secure multi-person communication from anywhere.
