Jami team is pleased to introduce the new version of Jami: Εἰρήνη.

We've chosen Εἰρήνη (Eirene), ancient Greek goddess of peace, after months of silent and dedicated work. This name embodies all the love and effort we have poured into this new version. As you will discover, this release brings remarkable advancements that will undoubtedly delight many loyal Jami users, as well as the many newcomers who have joined us following the announcement of Skype's shutdown.

Let's skip over the countless bug fixes and small improvements, as they are too numerous to mention here❗With Εἰρήνη, we would like to highlight three important aspects.

Registration of user names in the alphabet of your choice

With Jami, you can now register your name in the alphabet of your choice, not just the Latin alphabet. Jami is a universal communication software for every human being on earth.

We've gone to great lengths to ensure that this is perceptible and that everyone can use Jami in their own language and alphabet.

A much more intuitive and secure procedure for associating multiple devices to a single user account

Jami now allows multiple devices to be more easily associated with a single account. The previous mechanism, although functional, was not sufficient to guarantee the standard of security to which we wish to keep Jami.

Starting with version Εἰρήνη, this procedure is more direct and secure.

A vastly improved experience on mobile devices

Difficulties making calls or sending messages on mobile devices are now significantly reduced and smoother than ever! This new version of Jami for Android and iOS offers a level of reliability now on a par with that of laptops and desktops.

This new version of Jami is an important milestone, and your help is invaluable.

Jami's distributed architecture means that each device contains the entire functional intelligence of the application, and that Jami must work regardless of the platform chosen, but also regardless of the type of network configuration, all over the world.  In order to properly test and improve Jami, we need your feedback.

So don't forget! Every time you contact us, it's very important to specify the platform you're using (iOS, Android, Windows, macOS, GNU/Linux) and the version you're using, which is indicated in the “About” section.

Since Microsoft announced the discontinuation of the Skype service, we've been receiving many requests from users of this platform. You're very welcome! In many ways, Jami is an excellent alternative to Skype. There are, however, many differences, and we invite Skype users to keep an eye on our publications.
